Hello, we would like to announce a new release of WinCatalog 2017 version 17.45. This is a maintenance update fixing an issue with audio files processing (some stereo mp3 files were wrongly detected as mono). Another improvement fixes a negative effect of the recent Microsoft Spectre/Meltdown update for Windows 10 - on computers with Windows 10 installed WinCatalog started with a delay of 3-10 seconds. Now it starts almost the same time as before.
This is the minor upgrade, it is free for everyone who owns a license for WinCatalog 2017 or purchased the Lifetime Major Upgrade Option.

Hello, we’re glad to announce that a new update of WinCatalog was just released (version number is 17.4). Now WinCatalog is large monitors friendly - it allows zooming the content using four predefined values from small, which is the default, to extra large. You can find the switcher in the bottom right corner of the window or in the program options.

Hello, we’re glad to announce that a new version of the disk catalog software WinCatalog was just released. The version number is 17.3.
This is a maintenance update fixing some minor issues found from the previous update and slightly improves the update speed for disks and folders containing a large number of files and folders inside.
Thumbnail generation for video files was also improved, now WinCatalog will grab thumbnails for a various number of video formats even if the File Explorer does not display them (previously, displaying the thumbnails in File Explorer was a prerequisite). A support of .vob, .flac, .swf and other types of files was added.
Now you can clear the search history, zip backup compression also is now an option.
This is the minor upgrade, it is free for everyone who owns a license for WinCatalog 2017 or purchased the Lifetime Major Upgrade Option.

Hello, we’re glad to inform you a new version of WinCatalog was released.
The new version contains improvements and new features.
Now you can select several tags, locations or contacts and see all the associated items in the grid view. Use CTRL+Mouse click to add or remove an item to/from the selection, SHIFT+CLICK to select a range of items and CTRL+UP/CTRL+DOWN to expand the selection.
The other new feature is the optional ability to display search queries on the search tabs. This feature is useful for those who create several search tabs at the same time. The feature is turned on by default.
Thanks to the partial data loading, WinCatalog now improves the speed of displaying contents of the folders that contain large number of files and sub-folders.
The Administrative tab was added to the Program’s Options. It allows turning the debug logging on and off and switch to the ‘old’ scanning module that does not requrie .NET Framework.
Two issues concerning CRC32 and other hashes were fixed. Now WinCatalog correctly grags CRC32 values for files located inside ZIP archives (previously it grabbed negative values for some entries). Previously, the MD5 calculator locked the file and blocked CRC32 or SHA256 calculations. Now all three values can be calculated during the scanning process.

Hello, we’re glad to inform you a new version of WinCatalog was released.
The latest version adds SHA256 hash calculation for files. The feature is turned off by default. To turn it on, please run WinCatalog, click the Catalog button (left from the Main tab of the Ribbon toolbar), and then click Options. Follow to the General Scanning page, find the Checksum calculation section and mark the “Calculate SHA256…” option.
Please note that changing this option affects to the new scans only. If you wish to calculate SHA256 for previously catalogued files that were not changed, please turn the following option temporarily off: “While updating a disk or a folder: skip unmodified files (speeds up the update process)”. Please do not forget to turn this option back on after all to speed-up future updates.

Hello, we’re glad to inform you that new versions of WinCatalog were released. Both are the maintenance updates. Version 17.04 fixes Windows XP incompatibility and thumbnails grabbing (previously WinCatalog reduced thumbnails size to 200 pixels for a larger side independently from the selected value of the “Thumbnails size (in pixels)” option). Version 17.05 fixes the ta-da sound that did not play after the update process is completed.
The latest update is recommended for everyone.

Hello, we’re glad to announce that a new version of our disk catalog software WinCatalog 2017 (version 17) was released.
Advantages of the new version:
As you can see, the new version does not include any visible changes (so, unfortunately, we can’t just tell you “please click here to see all the new features”), but it contains a lot of internal improvements for the scanning and updating processes.
The scanning module was rewritten from a scratch using a new platform and now it works much faster and reliable (but keeps all the same functionality). 2017 release is a huge step forward for us opening new capabilities for the future development and for the new features.
The upgrade to the latest version is free for everyone who has purchased a license for WinCatalog 2016 or a Lifetime Major Upgrades option in addition to a license for WinCatalog. In that case, a new registration key is not required.
If you purchased any version of WinCatalog prior to WinCatalog 2016, you can buy WinCatalog 2017 at a special upgrade price (50% OFF) and get a new registration key in order to upgrade to WinCatalog 2017.
